The Academy Violins Shop can be found in the ancient Sussex County Town
of Lewes, near Brighton and Glyndebourne, home of the famous opera house.
There
are fast trains and road links to London and Gatwick airport – the
Newhaven ferry port to Dieppe is also within half-an-hour ’s reach.
The shop was established in 1973, and since 1998 Academy
Violins has been under the management of Robert Haydon Clark a former
violinist with the London Symphony Orchestra, and conductor of the Consort
of London.
Robert studied with professor Yfrah Neaman at the Guildhall School of
Music, London and also played with Yehudi Menuhin Festival Orchestra.
As director
of the Consort of London chamber orchestra he made a number of recordings
and performed in all the London concert halls including the Royal Festival
Hall together with major music festivals.
